Xander was born August 31, 2007 in Cortez, CO to Nathan and Rachel (Gates) Sword. He passed away on December 28, 2021 at Southwest Memorial Hospital of a brain tumor at the age of 14 to be with our Heavenly Father.
Xander is described as a sweet, smart, awkward, goofy, wonderful, helpful, thoughtful, kind young man. He was such a joy to be around. His smile was bright and contagious. But his best trait was his faith in God. In his short time on earth, many people have come forward to tell how they knew him and how he influenced many others. Xander just knew how to uplift and encourage others with Bible verses.
In the last two months of his life, he told his mom, “Good, it is about time” when he was told she got saved. Xander had also told his dad that, “You are my earthly father.” Xander made his parents very proud of his faith and know that he heard the words “Well Done” when he got to Heaven.
Surviving Xander are his parents Nathan and Rachel Sword of Cortez, CO; his siblings, Laura Griffin (Jonathan) and Giovanni Archibek of San Antonio, TX, Logan Cressler, Clayton Cressler, and Kyler Sword of Cortez, CO; his grandparents, Steve and Barbara Gates of Topock, AZ, and Charlotte Jones of Cortez, CO; he also left behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, a niece and nephew, and a big church family.
