Wanda Vee St. John

WANDA VEE ST. JOHN A Celebration of Life will be held for Cortez resident Wanda Vee St. John from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 19 at the home of Bobby Payne at 15301 Road 25, Dolores. Wanda was born on January 30, 1942 in Cortez the daughter of Eugene Albert and Grace Marie (Foster) Gilpin. She passed away on Monday, July 14, 2008 at her residence at the age of 66. Wanda liked time spent quilting and sewing. She was a wonderful seamstress. She loved the outdoors, fishing and camping were activities she enjoyed with her family. Wanda's grandchildren brought her life much joy. The recent birth of her great granddaughter was an event that Wanda was greatly looking forward to. She loved attending family reunions. Surviving Wanda are her fianc, Ron Sutton of Cortez; her children, Sarilda Jane Haytas and husband, John of Placerville, Calif., Lucreta Miller and husband, Kelly Stephenson of Cortez, Stephen McLain of Cortez, Bobbie Jean Payne and husband, Mitchel of Dolores, Susanna Schmeltz and husband, John of Elkgrove, Calif., and Sandra McLain of Cortez; and a family daughter, Jacque Gonzales and family of Elk Grove, Calif. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Teresa Baber, John Schmeltz, Christopher McLain, Stephanie Mecca, Montana Miller, Rebecca Biondi, Mitchel McLain, Scotti Biondi, and Courtney Schmeltz; her great-grandchild, Echoa Lynn Mecca; and her siblings, Robert Gilpin, Angela Kuykendall and husband, John of Mancos, Pearlene Vancickle and husband, Steve of Boswell, Okla., Issac Gilpin and wife, Betty of Mancos, Jessey Gilpin of Mancos, and Naddrene Beckham and husband, Bill of Texas. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, Gerald Gilpin and Willie Gilpin.
