TERRANCE FRANCIS “TERRY” WILLEY

Terrance Francis “Terry” Willey, 85 of Dove Creek, passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at Southwest Memorial Hospital in Cortez. He was born at home in Maquon, Ill. on August 1, 1938, the son of Mary C. (O’Brien) and Donald W. Willey.

Terry met his future wife, Sherrill Lea Murphy, as a teenager, and from there they became high school sweethearts. Terry and Sherrill married on April 28, 1957, sharing 50 years of marriage before Sherrill’s death in 2007.

He loved to travel the United States, seeing and camping in the national parks. He first traveled with his wife, camping in a 9x9 canvas tent. Later, they traveled in their motorhome. After her passing, he continued to travel, taking his mother to both coasts. In his later years, he and his daughter enjoyed traveling to many national parks each summer. He was a great resource for anyone planning a trip. He always gave suggestions on what to see and do, as well as the best places to eat on your journey. 

Surviving Terry are his daughter, Lori Ann Willey, of Dove Creek; and his brother, Kerry Willey and wife, Sherry Mitchell of Edelstein, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved wife, Sherrill.

Inurnment services will be held at a later date in Illinois.
