SYLVIA ELLEN CELLAR Funeral services for longtime Dolores resident, Sylvia Ellen Cellar will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 2 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Pastor Kent Slyter will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Summit Ridge Cemetery in Dolores. A visitation has been scheduled for Wednesday afternoon at the Ertel Chapel from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sylvia was born on October 12, 1916 in Groom, Tex. the daughter of J. Samuel and Myra (O’Neal) Weems. She passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2004 at her home in Dolores at the age of 88. Sylvia moved to the Dolores area in 1921. On July 3, 1939 in Monticello, Utah she married Robert Berton Cellar. They have now been married 65 years and five months. Sylvia was a dedicated homemaker who loved quilting, embroidering, and doing all types of needle work. She was a grand champion ribbon winner at the County Fair. Sylvia’s main goals in life were to provide a good home for her children, and for all of them to achieve a college education. Sylvia accomplished these goals with honor. Surviving Sylvia are her husband, Robert Berton Cellar of Dolores; her children, Ralph L. Cellar and wife, Gyanne of Arriola, Joe B. Cellar and wife, Jill of Farmington, N.M., and Segrid D. Davidson of Dolores. She leaves her grandchildren, Robert M. Davidson and wife, Robyn of Riverside, Calif., Charles M. Davidson and wife, Doris of Dolores, Daniel Pope of Cortez, Mark Cellar and wife, Lisa of Woodbury, Tenn., Gary Cellar and wife, Emily of Fortson, Ga., Jody Cellar and husband, Michael Robinson of Seattle, Wash., Tress Cellar and Myra Cellar both of Durango; her great-grandchildren, Shawna Davidson, and Allen E. Davidson both of Riverside, Calif., Rebecca M. Davidson of Dolores, Joshua Cellar, and Anne Marie Cellar both of Fortson, Ga.; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Ira Weems and Louis Weems; two sisters, Lela Taylor and Flossie Wade; and her daughter, Roberta Ann Cellar Pope. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Sylvia’s memory to the Dolores Volunteer Fire Department or to the Dolores Public Library.
