Shirley Ann Bertron was born in Colorado on October 9, 1935 to Katherine (Kate Mollendor) and Morse Bertron.
Shirley, her sister and three brothers grew up in Firestone, Colorado. After high school, she met Robert (Bob) Myers; they married January 22, 1956. The first years of their marriage they lived in Longmont, Colorado and their three children were born – Catherine, Yvonne and Robert (Bobby). Later, due to Bob's job, they moved to Dove Creek; and not long thereafter to Cortez, Colorado. Shirley worked various jobs around Cortez and eventually settled at Empire Electric Company where she made many life-long friends.
After retiring, Shirley and Bob pulled their 5th wheel trailer all over the United States. They visited nearly every state including Alaska and Hawaii. The two of them enjoyed many camping trips in that trailer and pick up.
Shirley enjoyed crafts and tried nearly everything. Ceramics, sewing, crocheting, knitting, embroidery, etc. but her favorites were applique quilting and counted cross-stitch. Every niece and granddaughter received a framed, personalized counted cross-stitch picture as a wedding gift and many of her family received embroidered baby quilts. All her crafts were very well made.
Shirley was proceeded in death by her parents, her sister Gloria, her brothers Morse (Sonny) and Dennis. Also by her husband Bob, her son Bobby and her daughter Yvonne Alves. She is survived by her brother Myron (Lois), brother-in-law Wes Myers (Renee), sisters-in-law Claudette and Linda, as well as many nieces and nephews. Also by her daughter Catherine (Gary) of Mancos and her grandchildren Grace Kennedy, Amanda (Matt) Olive, Cassandra (Matt) Hergert, Rob (Julie) Myers, Travis (Nicole) Myers, Katie (Tyler) Wolfe, and Shannon (Joe) Fouts. Plus her son-in-law John Alves and twelve great-grandchildren.
Shirley was interred at the Arriola Cemetery, Coloardo.
