Sharon Elaine Meadows

SHARON ELAINE MEADOWS Sharon Elaine Meadows was born September 17, 1937 in Gervais, Ore. to Alva Ellis and Violet Myrtle (Lakey) Heath. She passed away at Vista Grande Inn on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at the age of 76. On December 10, 1957, Sharon enlisted in the Air Force and served our country as an Airman Third Class until her honorable discharge on February 16, 1959. In Superior, Wyo. on February 29, 1980, Sharon married Bryan Merle Meadows and gained three stepsons who she considered as her own children. Sharon was very active with the Elks and American Legion through Bryan's memberships. She was an active sportswoman and excellent markswoman. Sharon loved her family and siblings including her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She cherished the time spent with all of her family. Surviving Sharon are her husband of 34 years, Bryan Meadows of Cortez; sons, George Meadows and Johnny Meadows both of Tulsa, Okla., and Steve Meadows of Durango; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; and sisters, Mary Lingo of Cahone and Laura Finch of Cortez. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alva and Violet Heath; and sisters, Kay Cassels and Phyllis Maness. Graveside Military Honors at Cortez Cemetery will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 29. A family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Montezuma, P.O. Box 740, Cortez.
