Renee Lemons, of Cortez, Colorado, was born on March 27, 1960, and passed away on February 23, 2026, following a car accident on February 20, 2026.

Renee graduated from Montezuma-Cortez High School in 1978. She went on to attend Colorado Mesa University, where she earned her degree in 1990 as a Radiologic Technologist. Throughout her career, she worked in various locations, dedicating herself to her profession and the care of others.

Renee was a true free spirit. She loved to explore the outdoors—searching for petroglyphs, swimming in the river, camping, and walking her dogs through the canyons. She had a deep appreciation for adventure and rarely went anywhere without her camera, capturing moments from the many journeys she took. More than anything, she loved sharing those adventures with the people closest to her.

She loved her dogs, her family, and her friends deeply, and her presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.

Renee is survived by her mother, Maggie Lemons; her siblings, DoAnna Millican(Joe Millican), Jeff Lemons(Debi Lemons), and Kara Walker(LeVaughn Walker. Her wife, Brenda Lemons; her grandson, whom she adored and who knew her as “Bubby”. Her nieces and nephews, Adrienne Hausler(Shale), Damon Millican(Jules), Mikala Taylor(Zach), Laci Lemons, Jessa Lemons, Jami Atler(Hilary), and Alex Goodwin(Jessica). Her great nieces and nephews Rylee Hausler, Mason Burks, Charleigh Burks, Jaxson Goodwin, Makenna Taylor and Atreaus Goodwin.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Lemons.

The Lemons family will be hosting a Celebration of Life for Renee in the summer of 2026. Details are still being finalized and will be shared via social media and invitations. Those who would like to attend are encouraged to contact a family member to be included.
