NORMA ELAINE LANCASTER Funeral services for lifelong Pleasant View/Cortez area resident, Norma Elaine Lancaster will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 5 at the Cortez Church of Christ. Interment will follow at the Cortez Cemetery. Mr. Hunt Zumwalt will officiate. Elaine was born on November 29, 1929 in May Canyon, west of Dolores the daughter of Claude 'Bud' and Ethel Louise (Dickerson) Ince. She passed away on Friday, October 29, 2004 at Banner Gardens Hospice House in Mesa, Ariz. at the age of 74. Elaine’s childhood was spent in the Lebanon area. She attended school at Lebanon and Garrett Ridge. At the age of eighteen, she moved to California to help with the war effort by working at Lockheed and Manasco. After returning to Colorado she married Boyd Lancaster on Oct. 13, 1946 in Aztec, N.M. To this union were born three children, Barbara, Boyd and Cheryl. Elaine worked at various jobs outside the home and worked side by side with her husband on the farm for many years. Elaine devoted her time to family, church, and visiting the sick. She loved traveling, playing music, 500 and shuffleboard, and writing poems for friends and family. Roadhaven in Apache Junction was her home away from home in the winter. She enjoyed many friends and the mild climate. Many hours were spent corresponding with lifelong acquaintances and newly made friends. Surviving Elaine are her three children, Barbara Floyd, Boyd Lancaster and Cheryl Lancaster; her grandchildren, Mindy Weaver, Matt Floyd, Michael and Jessica Lancaster and Rawlin and Kenny Brown; and five great-grandchildren, Dustin, Hayden, Kaleb, Ryker and Alaina. Also, her sister, Edith Chappell of Cortez; brothers, Nate Ince of Lebanon and Vernon Ince of Lewis and a wealth of extended family members. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Boyd; her sister, Barbara Remer; brother Carson Ince; and two infant siblings, Clayton and Aileen. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Elaine Lancaster with Banner Gardens Hospice House, 7231 E. Broadway Road, Mesa, Ariz., 85208.
