Mindy J. Rosenbaugh, of Cortez, Colorado, passed away on August 26, 2025, at Southwest Memorial Hospital.

Mindy Jean Rosenbaugh, beloved mother, wife, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, in her hometown of Cortez, Colorado, at the age of 69. Born on May 14, 1956, to Johnny and Kathy Hargrove (Hatch), Mindy’s life was a vibrant tapestry of love, hard work, and deep connections to her community and family.

Mindy’s early years were filled with joy as she learned to cook with her mother, Kathy, and family friend Edith Salmon, while wandering the high country towns of Rico and Telluride, and digging for bottles with her father, Johnny, stepmother, Molly, and brother, JB. She cherished weekends at Lake Powell, basking on its sandy shores with family and friends. A proud 1974 graduate of Montezuma-Cortez High School, Mindy carried her adventurous spirit into adulthood.

Her journey through life included three significant loves. She first married John “Mike” Sparks, with whom she welcomed her son, Channing Tanner Sparks. After their paths diverged, Mindy returned to Colorado and married John Bradly “Brad” Reed, with whom she had two cherished children, Randi Raquel Reed and Boe Garron Reed. Later, she found love with James A. Rosenbaugh, whom she married and welcomed into her family along with his daughters, Rachel Cashner, Nikki Rosenbaugh, and Connie Bollinger.

Mindy’s professional life was marked by passion and determination. She spent many years as a florist at Wilber Floral Co., where her love for flowers bloomed, bringing beauty to countless lives. She later tended bar at the Stagecoach and worked as an office clerk at Motors Inc., an electrical motor shop that served the oilfield. Her work ethic shone as she partnered to purchase Motors Inc., and later joined Caun Co Industrial Supply Company as a bookkeeper, eventually becoming a partner in its acquisition from Farimont Supply. During this time, she also ran a beloved basket shop in Cortez, a testament to her creative spirit. As the oilfield industry slowed, Mindy worked for the City of Cortez, continuing to serve her community, before transitioning to real estate, guided by her dear friend Gerry “Parker” Parker.

A true social butterfly, Mindy thrived in the heart of Cortez’s vibrant community. She was a dedicated athlete, playing softball in the city league and never missing Mancos Days or Escalante Days. As injuries slowed her down, she embraced horseshoes and golf, becoming a fixture at the Legion and Elks lodges, Conquistador Golf Course, and many courses in Mesquite, Nevada. Her warmth and infectious spirit made her a cherished friend to many.

Mindy is survived by her husband, James Rosenbaugh; mother, Kathy Hargrove; brother, JB Hargrove (Sherma); stepmother, Molly Hargrove; sons, Channing Tanner Sparks (Keri) and Boe Garron Reed; stepdaughters, Rachel Cashner (Matt), Nikki Rosenbaugh, and Connie Bollinger; stepsister Carol, stepbrother, Joe Applegate; grandchildren, Harley Sparks, Cannon Sparks, Ryatt Pierce (Hailee), Regan Pierce (Andrew Wood), Colton Reed, Jaydan, Amanda Winter, Dominique Hancock, Tanya Wallace, Reyes Gallegos, Ricky Cashner, and Cortney Cashner; nieces, Jennifer Sheley (Trent), Jillian Bishop (Josh), Alyssa, Kyli, Presley, Jaden, Kobe; great-grandchildren, Laney Pierce and David Pierce; and great-niece, Evie Bishop. Please forgive us if we have omitted anyone. She was preceded in death by her father, Johnny Hargrove; daughter, Randi Raquel Reed; and son-in-law, David Lane Pierce.

A celebration of Mindy’s life will be held at the Cortez Elks Lodge on September 7, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., followed by graveside services. A potluck will follow at Molly Hargrove's Home. Mindy’s family wishes to thank her numerous friends in Cortez and beyond for their love and support, which she cherished deeply.

Mindy’s light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her.
