Mel Franks

Mel Franks of Cortez Colorado passed away on July 15, 2025. She is preceded in death by her father Richard Crenshaw, her mother Hazel Moore and her brother Eddie Forman. Mel has three children, Carol Foutz, Jason Scott and Jake Franks. Mel was an incredible human being. She worked hard her whole life to support her children as a single parent most of their lives. Mel was friendly, outgoing, funny and loved her family. Her best friend Donna held her hand as she passed. She worked for Walmart during her time in Cortez and built friendships that will be long lasting memories for her co-workers. Mel was non-judgmental, kind and before her health struggles highly energetic. She played a significant role in her family and the emptiness is felt daily. Mel was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She has 7 Grandchildren, Kristine Kollenda, Drake Scott, Dakota Kennedy, Jazmin Lomax, Jade Lomax Leilani Franks, and Rumor Franks. Great grandchildren are Hazel Kennedy, Archer Kennedy and Leighton Kollenda, that love her very much and will carry her memories throughout their lives by the successes in their own lives. Though the end of her life was not what she deserved, the life she lives now is one she could have never imagined here on earth. The service details have not yet been decided due to the swift unexpected departure of Mel. Mom, we love you, miss you, and thank you for the true unconditional love you showed us, and you are truly loved and will be missed.
