MARY FRANCES MONTAÑO

Visitation has been scheduled for Mary Frances Montaño on Friday, February 19, 2021 from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel. The Rosary will be recited at 5:00 at the funeral home. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and Frances will be laid to rest next to her husband at Cortez Cemetery.
Frances was born November 26, 1932 in Tiffany, Colo. the daughter of Frank and Maria Carolina (Samora) Hancock. She passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021 at Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 88.
Surviving Frances are her children, Peter A. Montaño (Laurie) of Cortez, Colo., Peggy E. Montaño (Thomas Cochran) of Durango, Colo., Lillian Bayles (Randee) of Blanding, Utah, Shirley M. Rocha (Noe’) of Hutto, Tex., and Sylvia A. Trujillo (Wesley) of Denver, Colo.; by 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; and by her sisters, Florence Florez of Blanco, N.M. and Mary Ellen Little of Mesquite, Nev. Frances was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Pete E. Montaño; by her son, Timothy Montaño; and by her siblings, Charles Hancock, Billy Hancock, Manuel Samora, Lila Saiz, Ray Lucero, Felix Lucero, and Raymond Lucero.
