The family of Leroy "Bud" Crawn, Jr. is deeply saddened to announce his passing on July 21, 2026, at the age of 99.

Bud was born on October 4, 1926, in Montague, New Jersey, to Roy H. Crawn and Nellie Crawn. He lived a life defined by service, dedication, and love for his family and community.

He is survived by his children: Gina Heinicke; Wendy Maxwell (John); Buddy Crawn (Lisha) and Sarah Carhart (Matt).

Bud also leaves behind his grandchildren: Mark Williams (Donna); Jamie Heinicke; Jessica Schilke (Seth); Leland Crawn; Kyle Carhart and Scott Carhart (Marie). He was also blessed with several great-grandchildren, as well as many dear friends. He was preceded in death by a great grandson PJ Williams.

Bud proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from November 1943 until his honorable discharge in April 1946. During World War II, he participated in the Battle of Okinawa from June through July 1945. Following his military service, Bud remained devoted to his fellow veterans, actively supporting the American Legion and serving his community for many years.

An avid outdoorsman, Bud found joy in woodworking, hunting, and spending time in nature. He was also a passionate firearm collector and was always happiest when he had a project to keep him busy.

Bud will be remembered for his strong work ethic, unwavering patriotism, generous spirit, and the love he shared with his family and friends. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched.

A celebration of Bud's life will be held on October 4, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the American Legion in Cortez, Colorado.
