Leonilda "Lorraine" Bonan

January 3, 1920 — March 20, 2026

Cortez

Lorraine was born on January 3, 1920, to Tony and Christina Piccoli. She attended St. Columba Catholic School and graduated from Durango High School in 1938. After graduating, she attended beauty school in Denver and later worked in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Durango, Colorado.

She married Louie Bonan in 1946 and moved to Cortez, Colorado, where they opened the Vita-Kist Bakery with Louie’s brother, Al. In later years, Lorraine worked as a front desk clerk at the Turquoise Motel, a job she said was her favorite because she enjoyed meeting people from all over the world.

Their daughter, Kolleen, was born in 1951

Lorraine was a member of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary, the Cortez Civic Players, and the Cortez Women’s Golf Association, but her favorite pastime was playing the slot machines at the casino.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Louis Piccoli, and her husband, Louie (2012).

She is survived by her daughter, Kolleen, and her husband, Michael; two grandsons; seven great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
