Kim Jeffery Perkins, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2026, in Cortez, Colorado, at the age of 69. He was born on May 2, 1957, in Cortez, Colorado, to Calvin Perkins and Glennis Scheuffele.

Kim lived a life filled with hard work, adventure, family, and love. He was a man who found joy in the simple things: being outdoors, fishing, golfing, watching and playing basketball, and, most importantly, spending time with family and grandchildren.

From a young age, Kim had a passion for basketball. During his high school years in Durango, Colorado, he became a standout basketball player and a star on his high school team. His love for the game never left him. Whether he was playing, watching a game, or sharing his love of the game with those around him, it remained something that brought him happiness throughout his life.

Kim deeply loved his service as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Concepción, Chile. During his mission, Kim developed a deep love for the people, the culture, the language, and the country he had the privilege of serving in. His time there became a cherished part of his life, and the connections he made and experiences he had stayed with him throughout the years.

On December 18, 1980, Kim married his beloved bride, Gail, and they were sealed together for time and all eternity in the Provo, Utah Temple. Their life together became the beginning of a beautiful family and a lifetime of memories. Through 45 years of marriage, Kim and Gail had 5 children and 15 grandchildren- all of whom became Kim’s greatest source of pride.

Kim was a hardworking and dedicated man who enjoyed a successful career in Commercial Cattle Feeding. Through his work, he built a life for his family and took pride in providing for the people he loved. He was a man who understood the value of hard work, commitment, and perseverance. Those qualities became part of the legacy he left his children.

Kim’s children were incredibly important to him, and becoming a grandfather brought him a special kind of joy. His grandchildren were the light of his life. He cherished every moment he was able to spend with them. His grandchildren knew they were loved, and they will carry that love with them for the rest of their lives.

Kim is survived by his wife, Gail Perkins of Cortez, CO; his children, Kistine Uffens (Matt) of Monument, CO; Devin Perkins (Amanda) of Puyallup, WA; Kyle Perkins (Aubrie) of Minot, ND; Kathryn Stoney (Tyler) of Sandy, UT; and Jaclyn Gerber (Peyton) of Saratoga Springs, UT; his beloved 15 grandchildren; and his siblings, Janie Murray, Cordell Perkins, Collin Perkins, and Darin Perkins.

Kim was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin Perkins and Glennis Scheuffele.

The loss of Kim leaves an emptiness that words cannot fully describe. His family will miss his laughter, his stories, his excitement when his children and grandchildren were around, and most of all, simply having him there.

But alongside the sadness is overwhelming gratitude; for the years they were given, the lessons he taught, and the memories they made.

He was deeply loved during his life, and he will be deeply missed in his absence.

A memorial service for Kim Jeffery Perkins will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. 26525 County Road M Cortez, Colorado.

The memorial service is open to all who were blessed to know and love Kim. A private family graveside service and luncheon will follow.
