Kenneth Melvin Stocks

November 21, 1931 — March 6, 2022

Kenneth Melvin Stocks, known as ‘Ken’, was born to Angus Melvin Stocks, known as ‘Puge,’ and Lena Ames Stocks on November 21, 1931 in Moab, UT.
Ken was the oldest of three boys. He lived with his family on the homestead ranch in ‘old’ LaSal, UT. He graduated from high school in Moab, UT, and attended Mesa Jr. College in Grand Junction, CO until he was drafted into the army. He served in Korea and was honorably discharged in 1953.
Ken married Barbara Gregg, his wife of 68 years, in 1954. Together they lived with their daughter, Linda Stocks Chappell, on the Stocks Ranch where Ken began his life time occupation of saw milling together with his brother Fred. The two brothers divided their business and Ken moved with his family to Colorado, first living on the Garris Ranch at Fish Creek of the west fork of the Dolores River. Soon thereafter moving to their present location of home and sawmill and where they added raising Scottish Highland Cattle, and becoming a helicopter pilot. Ken had received his fixed wing private pilot’s license at the age of 16.
Ken received Jesus Christ as his savior during his Korea tour, was baptized in Moab, UT, and was a member of the Montelores Baptist Church.
Surviving Ken are his loving wife, Barbara Stocks of Dolores, CO; his daughter, Linda Chappell (Larry) of Phoenix, AZ; his granddaughter, Kenlynn Winsor (Sean) of Flagstaff, AZ; and his great grandchildren, Vivian Winsor, and Emberlen Winsor. Ken was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers. He passed away peacefully at home after a brief stay at Southwest Memorial Hospital.
