Obituary

Karan Irene Breshears (Weiser), 82, passed peacefully into the presence of her Savior on June 8, 2026, at Mancos Valley Inn. She was born on June 23, 1943, in Iowa to Richard M. Weiser and Gretchen (Sandusky) Weiser.

Karan lived a life marked by kindness, compassion, and unwavering faith. She spent many years in the Durango area near the Tacoma power plant, where she raised her daughter, Doneva. One of Doneva’s fondest childhood memories was riding to school with her mother on the pump trolleys.

On December 3, 1983, Karan married the love of her life, Dennis Breshears, in Fullerton, California. Together they built a beautiful life, and in 1994 they built their home in Mancos, Colorado. There they found great joy in gardening, caring for their beloved dogs, and opening their home to friends and family. Karan was known throughout the community for her warm smile, gentle spirit, and genuine kindness. Many local business owners and employees knew her by name, often seeing her with her faithful companion, Ranger.

Her Christian faith was the foundation of her life. Karan was a devoted member of Mesa Trails Cowboy Church, where she faithfully worshiped, served, and formed many cherished friendships over the years.

Karan is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Doneva Hogue; her stepchildren, Dennis L. Breshears Jr., Kevin Breshears, and Tricia Richards; her grandson, Johnny Koziol; her step-grandchildren, Dennis McNurlin and Acacia Flegel; her sister, Jackie Purdy; her children, Jim and Shalyn; and many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were blessed by her kindness, generosity, and love.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dennis Breshears; her parents, Richard and Gretchen Weiser; and her brother, Gaylon Weiser.

A Celebration of Karan’s Life will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Mesa Trails Cowboy Church in Mancos, Colorado.

”Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:23
