Judy A. (Frank) Deems, 80, passed from this life into the arms of her Beloved Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 11, 2026, at The Valley Inn in Mancos, Colorado after a lengthy illness. Judy was born in South Dakota and was a ranch girl and member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. She was a beloved Mother, Grand Mother, Great Grand Mother, Judy was a very talented artist and seamstress.
She had been a substitute elementary teacher and loved the little children. She taught art classes in her home, which she enjoyed. For several years in her early life, she drove a semi tractor trailer over the road solo before there were a lot of female drivers. She was very proud of her accomplishments and her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael Frank and Stella Lindskov of South Dakota. Surviving is her daughter, Barbara Berthold (Dan) of Bella Fourche, South Dakota and by Grand Children, Steven Martin of Cortez, Dakota Martin of Nebraska, and Danyell McKinney of South Dakota and several siblings and grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by several friends and her ex-husband and caregiver, Greg Deems, of Cortez.
Arrangements are being made through Ertel Funeral Home and graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 23rd at 1:00p.m. at Arriola Cemetery and conducted by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In lieu of flowers she requested donations to St. Judes Hospital, Shriners Children’s Hospital, or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
She will be sorely missed, and her pain and suffering are over. May she rest in peace.
