Judith Marie Bruns, (Judi) 77, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026. She was born in Rushville, Nebraska and spent her life creating a legacy of love, family, friendship and countless cherished memories.
Judi married the love of her life, Ronald Bruns, on April 19, 1969. Together they built a beautiful family and shared many wonderful years until Ron’s unexpected passing in 2003.
Judi was a devoted mother to her three children, Mindi Fehliman (Brandon), Scott Bruns (Sarah) and Kacy Spruell (Jason). She was also a proud grandmother to six grandchildren Brandon, Ellie, Darienne and Andrew Irvin, Camron and Noah Spruell, and four great-grandchildren, who were all the great joys of her life.
Judi had a special name that became a treasured part of the family. One of her grandchildren was unable to say “Grandma” and instead called her “Hummus.” Before long, all the grandchildren began calling her Hummus. Judi embraced the name completely and even lovingly referred to herself as “Grandma Hummus.”
Judi worked as a Real Estate Agent and later an Insurance Agent, careers in which she enjoyed helping and working with people. She retired in May 2026, just a few months before her passing.
Outside of work, Judi loved the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed fishing, camping, boating and shopping with her children. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her love, laughter, generosity, and unmistakable personality will be deeply missed.
Judi leaves behind a family who will carry her memory forward and continue the traditions, stories and laughter she created. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother, and most especially, as their beloved Hummus.
Her family will cherish every memory and be grateful for the love she gave so freely throughout her life.
