Johnney W. Burris

Johnney W. Burris, 68, passed away on October 14, 2026, in Durango, Colorado, and entered into the loving arms of the Lord.

Johnney was born on December 21, 1957, in Midland, Texas, to Johnney and Cretia Burris.

He leaves behind cherished family members who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts, including his beloved sister, Donna Weems, and her husband, Rick Weems, of Texas; his daughter, Bambi Longoria Martinez, and her husband, Gilberto Vacio; and his three granddaughters, Esperanza Martinez, Rosio de Luz Martínez, and Guadalupe Martinez. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews from the Cortez area.

Johnney was preceded in death by his loving parents, Johnney and Cretia Burris; his older brother, Frank Burris; and his nephew, Adam Burris.

Although Johnney is no longer with us, his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His passing leaves a space that cannot be filled, but his family finds comfort in knowing that he is now resting peacefully in the presence of the Lord.

A military funeral service honoring Johnney's life and service will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at the American Legion in Cortez, Colorado.

Following the service, Johnney will be laid to rest at Cortez Cemetery in Cortez, Colorado.
