James Andrew Fisher

November 28, 1939 — June 9, 2025

Dove Creek, Colorado

James Andrew Fisher was born November 28, 1939 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin the son of Elmer Andrew and Linnie Lee (Burk) Fisher. He passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025 at his home in Dove Creek, Colorado at the age of 85.

Jim met the love of his life, Pearl, and together they built a life rich in love, adventure, and unwavering commitment. Married on June 3, 1961, they raised four children—two daughters and two sons, instilling in them the values of perseverance, passion, and family first. Jim and Pearl moved from Muskego, Wisconsin to Dove Creek, Colorado in 1967.

Jim and Pearl shared 64 years together, a partnership built on love, resilience, and the kind of unwavering devotion that was evident to everyone around them. Their bond was more than a marriage—it was a lifelong adventure, filled with laughter, some heartache, and a love that stood the test of time.

Jim was always the first to say, “How did Pearl put up with me?” Yet anyone who knew them never questioned it—they simply belonged together, complementing each other in a way that made their love unmistakable.

During his childhood and adolescence, he traveled from Wisconsin to Oregon, Utah and New Mexico where he lived with his Aunts and Uncles. Each journey was quite an adventure, and his children and grandchildren were fascinated with his countless stories and escapades along the way. These memories will remain in the hearts of his loved ones forever.

Jim retired from Energy Fuels Resources in 2012 as Area Manager of the Colorado Plateau Mines. Although he had several different occupations, including working at the Dove Creek Implement as a salesperson, mining was in his blood. Jim even spent six months in Kosovo as a consultant for a mine.

From an early age, Jim thrived on competition. Whether he was speeding around the racetrack on a motorcycle or a stock car, team roping for fun and competition, or proudly cheering on his children and grandchildren from the sidelines, his love for the challenge was undeniable. His determination, grit, and joy for the chase weren’t just traits—they were the essence of who he was.

Beyond the races and arenas, Jim’s greatest victories were found in the warmth of his family and the bonds he nurtured with those he loved. He was a teacher in the truest sense, passing down skills that shaped lives—whether rebuilding an engine, tracking game in the wild, or teaching his children and grandchildren how to shoot with patience and precision.

His legacy lives on in the stories told (and there are many), the lessons shared, and the countless moments of encouragement he gave to those around him. Those who knew Jim, including his long list of friends, will forever carry the echoes of his laughter, the steady guidance of his hand, and the unwavering love he showed to both family and friends.

Surviving Jim are his spouse Pearl Fisher of Dove Creek; his children, Jamie Huskey (Darrel) of Dove Creek, Torie Davis of Dove Creek, Race Fisher of Dove Creek, and Ty (Rena) Fisher of Tuxedo, Texas; his grandchildren, Jacy Huskey of Dove Creek, Jade Huskey (Natasha) of Cahone, Colten Huskey (Lindsay) of Dove Creek, Michelle Davis of Challis, Idaho, Chase (Kristen) Davis of Cahone, Summer (Scheis) Anderson of Cortez, Skye Veach of Dove Creek, Savannah Barr of Blanding, Sheena (Ray) Ivie of Fruita, Samantha (Scott) Dickson of Grand Junction, Amanda Fisher of Farmington, Brandy Fisher of Dove Creek, Kali (Anthony) Martinez of Clifton, Joey (Kyle) Schultz of Dove Creek, Brandon (Ashley) Fisher of Jacksonville, Alabama; 25 great grandchildren with another one on the way, four great, great grandchildren; one sibling, Ron (Jacque) Fisher of Cañon City; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
