Immogene Spruell, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, was born on March 19, 1933, in Cortez, Colorado, to James Dennison and Emma Brinker. She passed away peacefully in her home on December 3, 2025, at the age of 92.
Immogene lived a life filled with warmth, kindness, and unshakable faith. She enjoyed simple pleasures—playing bingo and cards with family and friends, sharing laughter around the kitchen table, and spending time with the people she loved most. She was known for her gentle spirit, her compassion, and her ability to make anyone feel welcome. Those who knew her would say she had one of the sweetest hearts and a life overflowing with the love of Jesus.
Her home was always a place of comfort, and her presence brought peace to those around her. Immogene cherished her family deeply, and her greatest joy came from watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow.
Surviving Immogene are her children; Johnny Spruell (Brandy) of Cottage Grove, OR, Denise Carver (Trent) of Cortez, CO, Harry Spruell (Velma) of Gresham, OR, Dennis Spruell (Kelli) of Cortez, CO, Lonnie Huff of Dolores, CO. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Robby Spruell (Kim), Brenda Spruell, Jason Spruell (Kacy), Travis Spruell (Natalie), Andy Spruell (Kristin), Ginger Spruell, Dustin Spruell, Jerry Tevault (Maggie), Tina Nelson (Chad), Chelsea Philpott (Allen), and Rylan Huff; as well as 12 great-grandchildren who loved her dearly.
Immogene was preceded in death by her parents, James Dennison and Emma Brinker, and by her siblings: Lavaughn Dennison, Lonnie Dennison, Lois Dennison Stewert, and Darrell Dennison and Grandchild Kerry Spruell.
A Life Well Lived, Immogene’s legacy is one of faith, strength, and love. Her gentle wisdom, her soft-spoken encouragement, and her unwavering devotion to her family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She touched countless lives simply by being herself—kind, patient, and full of grace.
Though she will be greatly missed, her memory will forever remain a blessing.
A memorial service will be held at the Cortez Church of the Nazarene, located at 514 N. Chestnut Street, Cortez, Colorado, at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2025. Interment will follow at the Cortez Cemetery.
