Gerri was born January 31, 1928 in Phoenix, Arizona to her parents Laurance and Virginia Cash. She spent her early years in Alton, Missouri and moved with her parents to Dove Creek, Colorado in 1939. She attended Dove Creek High School, graduating in 1944. Gerri married J.B Sanchez on Dec 5, 1945 after he returned from WWII. They moved to Cortez in 1969. J.B. and Gerri opened San Juan Gems rock shop in Cortez in 1969. After J.B’s death Gerri started spending winters in Quartzsite, Arizona. She most recently resided in Madison House.

Gerri was a devoted Christian and loved God. She loved traveling to gem and mineral shows with J.B. and meeting new people. She was an avid reader and enjoyed study time with her Bible. She had been an active member with the VFW Auxiliary since 1951, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and her church throughout the years. Gerri had a great sense of humor and would bring the family to laughter when you got her to start telling stories from the early years of her life and marriage.

She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by her family.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Madison House Assisted Living in Cortez.
