Graveside services for Cortez resident Phil Mellott will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 24. 2026 at the Dove Creek Cemetery. 

George Phil Mellott was born April 15, 1958 in Denver, Colorado, the son of Ruby Jean and George (Baker) Mellott. He passed away peacefully Thursday, October 8, 2026 at Southwest Memorial Hospital, at the age of 68. 

Phil liked hunting, being outdoors, and building his own guns, but his greatest passion was cleaning and detailing cars. 

Surviving Phil are his children, Christina, Jenny, Emily, and Molly. Stepchildren Rebecca, and husband Justin Baker of Firestone Co, Jeremy and wife Cyntha Baker of Windsor, Co. by his grandchildren Ayden and Noah Baker of Firestone, Co. His sister Barbara and husband David (Mellott) Marsell of Pleasant View, Co, and his nephew Jeff Marsell of Cortez, Co. 

Phil was preceded in death by his parents, George and Jean Mellott of Dove Creek, Co.
