GEORGE MARTIN GRIFFITH SR.

 Funeral services for lifelong area resident, George Martin Griffith Sr., will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, March 15, 2024, at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Dove Creek Cemetery. 

 George was born February 22, 1934, in Dove Creek, Colo., the son of Charlie Stephen and Myrtle Irene Griffith. He passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024, in Grand Junction, Colo. at the age of 90.  

 Surviving George are his children, Cindy Mae Sutherland (Roger) of Cortez, Colo., and George Martin “Marty” Griffith (Ronda) of Cortez; son-in-law, Dan Uptain of Cortez, Colo.; by his sister, Shirley; by his grandchildren, J.R. Uptain, Martin White, Randy Uptain, Gary Hampton, Tommy Hampton, Christina Jones, and Allyce Griffith Tucker; as well as numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. 

 George was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Myrtle Griffith; by his daughter, Deborah Marie Uptain; and siblings Mary Elizabeth, Charleen, and John.
