Evelyn Jane Mecredy Vass

Evelyn Jane Mecredy, she went by Jane, was born in Roanoke VA in 1931 to Evelyn Keeter and Henry Edwards Mecredy. She graduated from Richmond Professional Institute with a degree in Fine Arts. In 1959 she moved to Denver, Colorado where she met Jerome Vass, got married and had 3 children. From 1969-1988 she lived in Telluride and owned an art gallery, framing studio and antique dealership. She was instrumental in the Telluride Arts & Humanities and promoted cultural events such as the Chamber Music Festival. In 1988 she moved to Dolores. All Janes life, she painted superb watercolor and oil landscapes. Known as a good listener with a sense of humor, she was a strong, independent woman who lived life by her own rules… She was working on a painting just 5 days before she passed. She was loved dearly by family and friends, far and wide. Service at Dolores Methodist Church, Thursday Jan 11, 2pm
