EUNICE NEOMA HUGHES HONAKER Graveside inurnment services for lifelong area resident Eunice Neoma Hughes Honaker will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 18 at Lewis Cemetery. Chan Chaffin will officiate. Eunice was born January 24, 1911 in Seibert, Colo. the daughter of Homer Lee and Maude Prescilla (Doan) Hughes. She passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Valley Inn Nursing Home at the age of 99. Eunice graduated from Durango High School in 1927 and then went on to attend business school in Denver. Eunice loved to entertain, she hosted many dinner and card parties at her home. She was involved with many groups and clubs. Eunice was a member of the Methodist Church, Lewis Ladies Aid Club, Cowbelles, Christian Women's Auxiliary, Ute Mountain American Legion Auxiliary, the Dolores Outreach Circle and the Lewis Home Demonstrators Club. In her free time, Eunice enjoyed camping in the mountains, going to Lake Powell with her friends, cooking, canning and embroidery work. On November 26, 1930, Eunice married Curtis Owen Honaker in Cortez. The couple shared many loving years of marriage. Surviving Eunice are her children, Alberta "Bert" Oliver of Lewis and Pat Honaker of Lewis; and her grandchildren, Justin Honaker and wife, Susie, Lisa Oliver, Jim Honaker and wife, Sandra Crow, Lori Oliver and husband, Raymond Millich, and Cindi Oliver; her great-grandchildren, Jessie Likes, Shay LaRue, Cody Likes, Stevi LaRue, Lane LaRue, Brady Collum, Jenny Jackson, Tina Honaker, C.J. Honaker, Hanna Honaker, and Holly Honaker; and her great-great-grandchildren, McKinsey Jackson, Mikyla and Keetan Gaylon. Eunice was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Curtis Honaker; by her brother, Herschel Hughes; by her great grandchildren, Carly Ann Martin and Raymond Millich Jr.; by her daughter-in-law, Sharon Honaker; and by her son-in-law, Harvey Oliver. Memorial contributions may be made in Eunice's name to the Lewis Arriola Fire Department.
