Ethel “Amanda” Reed Hector, born September 21st, 1945, of Batesville, Indiana, passed away December 19th, 2025, while at home surrounded by her loved ones. Amanda moved to the Mancos Valley in 1958 where she graduated from Mancos High School in the 1963 class. A few short years later she married and gave birth to her four children. She and her former husband David Show Sr. owned and operated horseback riding stables around Colorado. She worked around the Mancos Valley for years, including for the United States Forest Service, Mesa Verde National Park, and Boy’s Market. In 1986, she met the love of her life, Earl E. “Skip” Bennick in Las Vegas, Nevada. They moved back to the Mancos Valley in 1989 where they started Bennick’s Roofing together. Amanda then attended San Juan Vocational School where she studied accounting to help with the business. Together, Skip and Amanda enjoyed mountain car rides, dinners at the casino, and helping fellow community members whenever possible. Amanda had a passion for the western way of life and some of her hobbies included cooking, horses, crafting and gardening. Most importantly, she loved her big, crazy family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Claude and Dovie Reed, siblings; Tom Reed, Bill Reed, and Lorraine Garlinghouse, and her granddaughter; Meagan Coppinger.
She was survived by her husband Earl E. “Skip” Bennick, her children; Timothy (Nuja) Show, Kimberly Show, Donald (Julie) Show, and Justin Show, siblings; Marlene Carneyhan, Darlene Reed, Brenda Reed, and Roger Reed. Amanda was also blessed to be survived by 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Services will be held January 2nd, 2026, at 11:00 am followed by a potluck at Mesa Trails Cowboy Church in Mancos, Colorado. She will be laid to rest at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Mancos, Colorado.
