ELIZABETH M. “BETTY” JOHNSON Memorial services for Bayfield resident and former Grand Junction resident Elizabeth M. Johnson will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 22 at the Cedaredge Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Betty was born on February 7, 1923 in St. Paul, Minn., the daughter of Roland Jay and Lucinda Kathryn (Grover) Parkinson. She passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2007 at her home in Bayfield. Betty was a member of Rebekahs and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a past employee of the Grand Junction Regional Center where she worked as a technician. Betty had also lived in Oak Creek, Colo. where she helped to operate B&R Body Shop. Surviving Betty are her husband, Henry B. “Pete” Johnson of Bayfield; her children, Peggy Klumker and husband, Richard of Yampa, Colo., Caroline Rhodes of Grand Junction, Colo., Cynthia Rhodes also of Grand Junction, and Jay Rhodes and wife, Phyllis of Bayfield; her sister, Ruth Dawson of Bayfield, Colo.; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Verbas and husband, Jeff of Grand Junction, Colo., Eric Klumker, Bill Klumker, and Jake Rhodes; and her great-grandchildren, Georgia, Evelyn, and Lee Klumker. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William E. Rhodes; and her brothers, Russell, Roland and Elmo. Memorial contributions may be made in Betty’s name to the American Lung Association or Hospice of Mercy, 1970 E. 3rd Ave. Ste. 100, Durango, Colo. 81301.
