Edward Duane Sherman

Edward Duane Sherman of Cortez passed away on September 20, 2025, after battling cancer for just over two years. He was 73 years old.

Born on September 20, 1952, in San Rafael, CA, Duane was the son of Edward and Velma Sherman. The family lived in Southern California until 1980, when they relocated to Brighton, CO. In 2010, Duane moved to Cortez with his sister Elaine.

He enjoyed using his technical and analytical skills working on vehicles and appliances. Shortly before he retired, he was involved in repairing large-scale electric motors. Duane had many hobbies he pursued in his free time, including black-smithing, computer science, and 3D printing. He was also a past Master Mason.

Duane loved animals, particularly cats, and was a devoted dad to Teddy, Shadow, Merlin, Noel, Squeaker, and a spunky Tuxedo kitty he recently rescued and named Jasmine. He enjoyed their antics and their individual personalities.

Duane is survived by his sister, Elaine Sherman, of Cortez, CO.
