Earl Leroy Broderick died peacefully at his home in Cortez, with his loving wife by his side.
He was born on February 11, 1951 to Edwin Leroy Broderick and Margot Sue Dunnigham Broderick in Cortez, Colorado, a true lifetime resident. He grew up in Slick Rock, Monticello, and Dolores. He graduated in 1969 from Dolores High School.
Earl attended an architectural autocad school in Denver. After it closed midway through his education, Earl went to Northern California for a short period. While he also worked in forest logging, he is most well known as a diesel mechanic, working in this field for 30-35 years.
Earl was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved the outdoors and the wildlife. He attributed this love to his father, who hunted and fished with him growing up.
He married Vicki Harris Brown on June 19, 1999. In this marriage, he gained a daughter, a son-in-law, and a granddaughter. He loved his new family. Grandchildren were his joy.
Earl was preceded in death by his father Edwin, and his older brother Jeff. Earl is survived by his wife Vicki; his daughter Roni and her husband Phil Alexander; granddaughter Justyne and Cameron Rowe; grandson Grant Anthony; granddaughter Brannon Alexander. He is also survived by his younger brother Tom and Amy Broderick, two younger sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. Also, his extended family, the Montezuma County Patriots and the Doobie Brothers Fan Club.
Earl’s kindness, compassion, his caring, loving arms, sparkling eyes, smile and great wit will be missed by all that knew him.
