On Monday, June 20, 2022, Debra “Debbie” Lillian Casias, went home to be with our Lord Jesus, at the age of 70. She passed away in her home after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
Debbie was born on October 30, 1951 in Pomona, CA to Richard and Betty Jo Flora. Debbie grew up in La Verne, CA and raised her family in Las Vegas, NV. There she met the love of her life, Bob, at Hallelujah Christian Fellowship. They grew together through the ministry of home fellowships hosted in Debbie’s home. Bob and Debbie’s two families were united by marriage on September 9, 1999. They moved to Dolores, CO in 2012.
Debbie enjoyed all animals, especially her dogs and chickens. She loved her friends, her church family, and was an avid prayer warrior. She was a hard worker, a ‘git-r-done’ kind of woman. Debbie loved spending time in her canning kitchen, making jams, syrup, and dressings. She loved her family fiercely and treasured her trips to visit her children and grandchildren. Most of all, her faith in Christ never wavered, even in sickness or hard times. Anyone that met Debbie knew exactly where she stood.
Debbie was preceded in death by her father, Richard and her mother, Betty Jo. She is survived by her husband, Bob; her children, Jodee (Tod) Matthews, Jami (Robert) Price, Jacob (Juanita) Johnson, Laura (James) Cooper; her step children Amanda (Andy) Hoffman and Billie Jo Casias; she was proud Nana to 18 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; her brother, Bart (Maureen) Flora; and her sister, Diane Thompson.
A celebration of life service is scheduled for 2 pm on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at The Crossroads Christian Fellowship church in Cortez, CO. A meal will be provided after. Memorial donations can be made in Debbie’s name to the American Cancer Society at cancer.org.
Matthew 6: 33-34 But above all pursue his kingdom and righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. So then, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own.
