Dayna Rae
Herrick
Jun 18, 1947 — Jul 29, 2026
Dolores, Colorado
Dayna Rae Herrick passed away on July 29, 2026 from complications of Rheumatoid Arthritis.
She was born on June 18, 1947 to Max and Velma Stahlman in Pueblo, Colorado. She was raised in Englewood, Colorado. Dayna attended Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado where she met her future husband, Paul.
They married in 1969 and Paul was drafted into the U.S. Army that same year. They spent 22 years at various assignments in the U.S, and Germany. Their last duty station was at Dugway Proving Ground, Utah where Paul retired in 1990.
They made their new home in Dolores, Colorado raising cattle and hay. Dayna worked in various fields of employment, most in Civil Service (Department of Army) and with Nielsons, Inc. in Cortez, Colorado.
Early years were adventurous: travel, biking, tennis, skiing, scuba and backpacking across the Mt. Zirkel Wilderness area. 80's rock music sent her in motion. She was content using her skills when entertaining, doing interior design, sewing, quilting, puzzling, and crafting.
She thrived when observing her garden, caring for animals, feeding hundreds of birds, ATV riding and enjoying the company of family and friends. She praised God's majestic love and his creations.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Paul Herrick; brother Kirk Stahlman (Becky) of Scottsdale, Arizona; sister Rochelle Egert (Terry) of Littleton, Colorado and many nieces and nephews.
No services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to For Pet's Sake Human Society or local Veterans' Programs.
