Dana Roxanne (Duncan) Baxstrom passed away Friday, April 25, 2025, at her Dolores residence surrounded by her loving family. She leaves behind her Husband of 57 years, Howard “Gene” Baxstrom, Daughter Eshi Hicks, (Nate Hicks) and son Ty Baxstrom, three grandchildren, Forest Hicks, Falcon Hicks, and Dannika Baxstrom, brother Ted Duncan (Marge Duncan) and sister Sandy Simmer, sister Mary Hinton and brother-in-law Robert Baxstrom (Sharon Baxstrom) along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sons Brent Baxstrom and Grant Baxstrom, Brothers Lonnie Duncan and Grant Duncan, and parents Bob and Betty Duncan.

Dana was born July 16, 1945, in Durango, CO. Her father was an aircraft mechanic and moved the family to Kansas and then to Utah before Coming back to Montezuma County in Dana’s 5th grade year. Dana met Gene that year in Mrs. Wolf’s class at Calkins Junior High (one of many buildings Gene’s Grandad built.) It wasn’t until high school that they started dating. They graduated in 1963 and were married on September 10, 1967. Dana and Gene had four children that they raised in Kirkland, NM. where Gene was a teacher. Dana was a home maker (chef, baker, gardener, seamstress, chauffer, etc.) and business manager for their rental properties and bakery end deli café. In 1992 Dana and Gene returned to Montezuma County to be closer to family. Since then, they have built and managed several local businesses. Their partnership was that of mutual respect, love and devotion.
