Dale Oliver Noyes

September 4, 1945 — March 16, 2020

Dale “Oliver” Noyes was born September 4, 1945 in route to the hospital in Clayton, N.M. to Marvin Emerald and Louella June (Eldridge) Noyes. He passed away on Monday, March 16, 2020 at his home in Cortez, CO surrounded by his family on the eve of his 55th wedding anniversary at the age of 74.
During Oliver’s childhood his family lived in several places before they settled at the family farm in Lebanon, CO. Oliver attended the Lebanon School House from 5th to 8th grade and graduated from Montezuma-Cortez High School in 1963. On March 17, 1965 he married Mary Ann Couch in Cortez, CO and called this their home ever since.
Oliver was always a humble, hardworking man. During his life he sold cars, tended bar, and was a diesel mechanic. His main occupations were construction and truck driver, his handle was “Wild Child.” It did not matter what he was doing, he gave 110%. Oliver was a very caring and generous man and would help anyone with anything they needed at any time. He donated to several causes, to name a few are Hospice of Montezuma, American Cancer Society, NRA, VFW Post #5231, American Legion Post #75, National Elks Foundation, and Cortez Elks Lodge #1789 where he was a member for 52 years.
Oliver’s family was always the most important thing in the world to him and he took good care of them all. In recent years his devotion was to his sister, Evelyn June, was nothing short of amazing. Oliver was one of the smartest, strongest men we ever knew, right up to the last day he was with us. He was fortunate to get to take a road trip to Arizona to see his lifelong friend of over 60 years Joe, who was equally important. Oliver loved a good picnic and never turned down homemade ice cream.
Anyone who knew Oliver knew what an exceptional, determined and gentle man he really was. He will be forever in our hearts and his wisdom in our thoughts.
“The gifts of an honorable, well-lived life are in those
who will miss you once you’ve gone.”

Surviving Oliver are his wife of 55 years, Mary Ann Noyes of Cortez, CO; his children, Lynn Hurst (Shane) of Mancos, CO, Ronnie Noyes of Cortez, CO, Darren ‘Woody’ Noyes (Eileen) of Mancos, CO, Sheri Noyes (Rick Kirks) of Pleasant View, CO, Gary Noyes (Pepper) of Cortez, CO; his siblings, Eldon Noyes (Betty) of Lebanon, CO, Evelyn June Noyes of Lebanon, CO, Lory Noyes (Sandie) of Fruita, CO, Darlene Barber (Ed) of Flora Vista, NM, Dan Noyes (Sheri) of Lebanon, CO, Lavona Hansen (Bob) of Cortez, CO; 13 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren; many extended family members; and by his best friend, Joe Jones of Shalome, AZ.
