A Celebration of Life for former Cortez resident Casey Rucker will be held at 11:30 am Friday, September 16, 2022, at Rock Springs Church in Cortez, CO.
Casey was born March 22, 1992 in Cortez, CO, the son of Vern and Lindy (Meade) Rucker, facing lifelong challenges due to his special needs. He passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at St Mary's Hospital at the age of 30, surrounded by his immediate family.
Casey lived in Cortez until 2015 when he relocated to Victoria House in Grand Junction, CO. He found new friends and daily activities that contributed to his independence as a young adult. His best friends there were Tyler and Travis. Casey loved country music, bowling, the Denver Broncos, watching animated movies, and attending the Country Jam Music fest twelve years in a row. In 2020, after a series of medical events and extensive rehabilitation, Casey was welcomed to Horizons Care Center in Eckert, CO, where he lived until his passing.
Surviving Casey are his parents, Vern and Lindy (Meade) Rucker; brother, Taylor (Viktoria) and Lincoln, Casey's nephew; Grandmother, Effie Rucker of Grand Junction, CO; Grandfathers, Ralph (Nancy) Daniels of Leesburg, FL, and Earl (Christine) Bills of Penrose, CO; Uncle, Ron (Kamilynn) Rucker; Aunt, Lori Meade of Aurora, CO; Cousins, Ron (Annie) Rucker, Kirsten (Jon and Ivy) Graham, Reilyn (Sean) Lewis and their children-Coleman, Canaan, and Emilyn of Bennett, CO, and Mitchell Herman of Aurora, CO. Casey is also survived by numerous caregivers from Cortez, Grand Junction and Eckert, CO. His hugs and his laughter will forever be his gifts to all who came to know him. Casey was proceeded in death by his grandfather, George Rucker; his grandmother, Jeanne (Todd/Bills) Lackey; and his best friend, Tyler Brady.
Specialty tribute arrangements can be ordered at the Flower Cottage if so desired. No burial is planned. All who came to know and provide care for Casey, in any capacity, are welcome to join us. There will be a light dinner following the services.
