Funeral services for Betty Lois Davis will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, January 10, 2022 at the Primitive Baptist Church in Cortez. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Elder Cleveland Bass will officiate. A viewing will be held Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Ertel Memorial Chapel from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Betty was born December 20, 1934 in Etowah, Arkansas the daughter of James Lelan and Elzie (Ferguson) Russell. She passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at her home at the age of 87.
Surviving Betty are her children, Russell Davis (Lois) of Cortez, Darla Cawley (Leon) of Belton, TX, David Davis of Dolores, CO; her sisters, Jewell Vail of Lake City, AR, and Flora Williams of Vicksburg, MS; grandchildren, Kenneth Davis of Cortez, Keith (Bethany) Davis of Cortez, Teresa (Norman) Walton of Ignacio, Donnie Davis of Cortez; and ten great grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill Ross Davis; her son, James Ross Davis; an infant daughter, Lois L. Davis; her granddaughter, Christina Trudeau; and siblings, Evelyn Lucille Russell, Sarah Verlin Russell, Dorothy Mae Roberts, Ruby Jean Denton, Alvin Curtis Russell, William Floyd Russell and Glendora Brindos.
Betty passed away just two weeks after her 87th birthday in her home of 56 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Betty was devoted to her church for over 60 years and leaves behind her fellow church members that she considered family. She will be greatly missed.
