Barbara Jean Hughes

Barbara J. Hughes, age 77, of Cortez, Colorado, passed away peacefully at home on August 9, 2025, after a valiant battle with cancer. She was born on July 16, 1948 in Niagara Falls, New York. 

Barbara owned and operated a child daycare center, she was a state licensed Real Estate Agent and went into property management. She worked for Monarch Real Estate Agency, then Leasing Services, Inc. She was the secretary, treasurer, vice president and president to the Las Cruces Rental Association.

Barbara loved to go country dancing with friends and spending time with her family. 

Barbara is survived by her children: Angela Dils (Sam), Cynthia Krebs (Jerry) and Babett Teitge (John). Five grandchildren: James Marchese (Devin), Justine Cates (Jacob), Faith Boyd (Michael), Chloe Marchese (Felipe) and Ty Krebs. Two great-grandchildren: Aurora and Neko.  She is preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Gerald.  

Per her request, no funeral or memorial service will be held.
