Barbara Ann Garcia

Barbara Ann (Ainsworth) Garcia, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Southwest Memorial Hospital in Cortez, Colorado.

Born on January 9, 1941, Barbara was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was married to Amador Garcia for 32 years and previously to Henry Dale Ainsworth for 39 years, father of her two daughters Dana Ainsworth Weyand (Paul Weyand) and Lisa Ainsworth Winn (Gary "Bill" Winn), both of Dolores. She loved her sons-in-law deeply and considered them as her own sons, and part of her heart and home.

Her grandsons, Keedan Ainsworth (Katie), blessed her with four great-grandchildren and Kellen Gatzke also held a special place in her heart. Barbara also loved her extended family of stepchildren - Mark (Ruth), Steve (Rachel), Marcy (Kevin), and John (Tara), and their families, including Brent, Alec, Casey, Lindsey, Derrick, Sarah, Nick, Matthew, Keenan, Krista, and all the beautiful great-grandchildren.

Before fully retiring, Barbara owned the Merle Norman store in Cortez that she operated with her daughter Dana. She was known for her impeccable style, her love of sparkling things, and her joyful spirit. Barbara had a wickedly funny sense of humor and a sassy streak that made everyone around her smile. Whether she was laughing over a margarita with friends, tending to her patio flowers, baking something delicious from her prized cookbook collection, or trying her luck at the slot machines, she lived life with flair and grace.

Barbara was a Christian woman, strong-willed, kind, and incredibly generous. She loved deeply and gave freely, offering comfort, advice, and homemade meals to those lucky enough to know her. Her legacy is one of faith, family, beauty, humor, and strength.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

A service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 26 at Ertel Funeral Home in Cortez, Colorado. All who knew and loved her are invited to attend and share memories.
