Anna Claire Hueber, 99, passed peacefully into the Presence of her beloved Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 5, 2025, just 9 days before her 100th birthday. She died in Durango, Colorado, at the Durango Health and Rehabilitation Center. Ann was born on June 14, 1925, in Long Island, New York to Rudolph and Carla (Johnson) Hueber. She was their only child. She never married, and she had no children. She is survived by her dear first cousin, Patricia Selzam, of Bakersfield, California, and numerous second and third cousins, and she was preceded in death by her father and mother, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as by her dear gentleman friend, Robert “Bob” Wheatley, who was the love of her life.
Ann was a life-long, successful career woman. After working in the defense industry during World War II, Ann rose to an extremely high position in the oil industry. She eventually served as the executive secretary to the president of the Chevron Oil Company, until she retired.
From the time that Ann was a young woman, she had a deep desire to know God. For decades, she investigated various religions, but she did not find what she was seeking. At last, at the age of 56, she found the truth and peace which she had been searching for. On Good Friday morning, she awoke paralyzed! She remembered that a dear friend had recently told her that the only way to have a relationship with God was through His Son Jesus, who died for our sins and rose from the dead. She cried out, “Jesus, help me! Jesus, save me!” Immediately, Jesus healed her from her paralysis, and she knew that she had found what she had been looking for! For the rest of her life, she would tell others about Jesus, and you would often hear her say, “I love my Jesus! I love my Jesus!”
Her Celebration of Life was held at 10:00 a.m. on June 19th at her graveside in the Cortez Cemetery in Cortez, Colorado. It was officiated by Pastor Craig Rutherford of Arriola Bible Church and attended by her dear friends from that church and her other friends from the area.
