Angelo Martinez passed away peacefully at his home in Cortez, Colorado on June 29th, 2026. Angelo was born in Cortez on November 2, 1957, where his family has resided for three generations.

He is survived by his two sons, Angelo (Nicole) and Miguel Martinez, his mother Shirley Martinez, two brothers Frank and Louie, along with his sister Joy Bussard. Several cousins, friends, and community members. Angelo was proceeded in death by his father, Louis Martinez.

Angelo served in the United States Army, where he served as a medic during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. His commitment to the care of others extended into his civilian career, where he spent many years in facility maintenance for local hospitals and nursing homes.

An avid outdoorsman, Angelo found joy in the beauty of Colorado, frequently spending his time hunting and fishing. He was also a passionate supporter of the Denver Broncos. As a longtime season ticket holder, he took immense joy in attending games and sharing the experience with others.

A Celebration of Angelo's life will be held 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Military Honors will be provided by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5231.
