Abe Ben Valdez

ABE BEN VALDEZ A celebration of life potluck and remembrance for Abe Ben Valdez will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 7 at the Dolores Community Center. Abe was born February 7, 1942 in Brawley, Calif. the son of Filbert and Virginia (Maestas) Valdez. He passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Vista Grande Inn at the age of 74. On November 19, 1959, Abe married Sherry June Duree in Cortez. Abe was actively involved in local sports having coached Pop Warner football and little league baseball. He enjoyed being outdoors fishing, hunting and camping. Surviving Abe are his wife of 56 years, Sherry Valdez of Cortez; his children, Rick Valdez (Kelly) of Ridgecrest, Calif., Don Valdez of Las Vegas, Nev., Ron Valdez (Shawna) of Dolores, and Dean Valdez (Missy) of Cortez; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; by his sisters, Betty Lopez (Eugene) of Dolores, and Kathleen Masucbol of La Mirada, Calif.; and by a large extended family. Abe was preceded in death by his parents; and by his aunt, Ada O'Toole.
