ZORA GATES "GRANDMA Z" Memorial services for Cortez resident Zora Gates "Grandma Z" will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 19 at Cortez First Baptist Church. Pastor Vic Powell will officiate. Zora was born on October 31, 1922 in Wakene, Kan. the daughter of Fritzhugh Lee and Sylvia Marie (Luckey) Jones. She passed away on Thursday, December 10 at her residence at the age of 87. Zora was lovingly concerned about her family and people around her. Please join the family in celebrating her going home to be with the Lord. Surviving Zora are her children, Diana Schuster and husband, Robert of Cortez, Gary Gates and wife, Jan of California, Suzan Schuit and husband, Roger of Denver, Colo., and Steve Gates and wife, Barbara of Cortez; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. Zora was preceded in death by her parents; and by her husband of 43 years, Elwyn Wendall Gates; two brothers; and one sister.
