YVONNE GWENDOLYN GILLILAND Memorial services for lifelong Cortez resident Yvonne Gwendolyn Gilliland will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 15 at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church. Reverend Leigh Waggoner will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Yvonne was born the daughter of Louis and Lorna (Kermode) Paquin on October 6, 1938 in Mancos, Colo. She passed away at her Cortez home on Monday, April 11, 2011 at the age of 72. On June 22, 1956 Yvonne married Leon Gilliland in Chama, N.M. Together they shared 54 years of marriage. A member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Yvonne was also an active advisor for 4-H and Rainbow. For many years she was bookkeeper and helper on the family farm. During her free time, Yvonne enjoyed arts and crafts including ceramics, painting, sewing and crocheting. Surviving Yvonne are her husband, Leon Gilliland of Cortez; two daughters, Cyndi Phelps and husband, Al of Ignacio and Lori Haukeness and husband, Jamie of Cortez; one son, Terry Gilliland and wife, Nancy of Round Mountain, Nev.; seven grandchildren; and one brother, John Lewis Paquin and wife, Ellen of Mancos. Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Lorna Finnegan. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Yvonne Gilliland with Hospice of Montezuma, PO Box 740, Cortez, Colo. 81321.
