TONY MARTINEZ Funeral Mass for longtime Dolores resident Tony Martinez will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 17 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Summit Ridge Cemetery. Reverend Pat Valdez, C.R. will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75. A Rosary service will be held on Friday evening at 6 p.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Tony was born April 7, 1920 in El Vado, N.M. the son of Amado and Juanita (Alires) Martinez. He passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Vista Grande Inn at the age of 96. On November 25, 1939 Tony married Margaret Velasquez. He worked for 35 years in the lumber industry. Tony belonged to the V.F.W. and he loved being outdoors hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed drawing. Surviving Tony are his children, Nancy Sanchez (Andy) of Cortez, Elizabeth Sisneros (Richard) of Farmington, N.M., Gloria Lopez (Abel) of Wales, Utah, Rosie Martinez (Benito) of Durango, Colo., Ruth Villareal of Denver, Colo., Tony Martinez (Mary) of Marysville, Calif., Josephine Martinez of El Paso, Tex., Pasty Howell (Harlon) of Cortez, Marcella Martinez of Missoula, Mont., Michael Martinez (Henrietta) of Farmington, N.M., and Carmella Martinez (Mark) of Cortez; by 75 grandchildren, 157 great-grandchildren, and 124 great-great-grandchildren; and by his son-in-law, Jerry Cross of Kansas. Tony was preceded in death by his parents; by his wife, Margaret Martinez; by his children, Juanita Martinez, Bernice Cross, two infant children; by his siblings, Rosenaldo Lopez and Maria Ulibarri; by his sons-in-law, Frank Villareal and Abel Lopez; by his granddaughters, Elizabeth Lopez and Debbie Randall; by his grandsons, Rosendo Nelson and Carlos Martinez; and by his great-grandson, Roman Martinez.
