THERESA MAE WILLIAMS Memorial services for Cortez resident Theresa Mae Williams will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 17 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Theresa was born the daughter of Eugene and Cecilia Mae (Arietta) Marler on September 26, 1939 in Silverton, Colo. She passed away at Vista Mesa Assisted Living on Friday, November 11, 2011 at the age of 72. Theresa married Charles Emerson Williams on October 23, 1960 in Slickrock, Colo. They shared nearly 36 years of marriage before his death in 1996. Theresa worked for Montezuma County in the Health Department for 34 years. A straight forth woman, Theresa was honest and open in her relationships with others, always allowing you to know where you stood with her. She loved making new friends. Her home and yard were important to her and Theresa loved time caring for her house and flower gardens. Theresa was a collector of Beanie Babies and lighthouses. Surviving Theresa are her son, Jim Williams and wife, Carolyn of Bakersfield, Calif.; daughter, Linda Johnson and husband, Mark of Cortez; three grandchildren, Amy Johnson of Denver, Colo., Jarrett Williams of Bakersfield, Calif. and Cody Johnson Towanda, Penn.; and by her siblings, John E. Williams and wife, Echo of Monticello, Utah and Charlotte Meyer of Montrose, Colo. Theresa was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Charles Williams.
