SYBIL GERALDINE SMALL Funeral services for longtime Cortez resident Sybil Geraldine Small will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 15 at Montezuma Valley Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Reverends Steve and Kim Nofel will officiate. A visitation has been scheduled for Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Viewing will also take place from noon to 1 p.m. on Monday at the church. Sybil was born on January 13, 1929 in Watson, Okla. the daughter of Charles Edward and Lucy Lorene (Moyer) Reynolds. She passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 81. On May 3, 1952, Sybil married Gus Clifford Small in Bernalillo, N.M. In 1961, Sybil became a member of the Order of Eastern Star and she worshiped at Montezuma Valley Presbyterian Church. Sybil loved traveling with her husband and family members. She enjoyed genealogy work and Sybil's family was the most special part of her life. She truly loved and enjoyed time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Surviving Sybil are her daughters, Shannon Lee South of Cortez and Lorraine Gaye Barwin and husband, Steven of Superior, Colo.; her step-son, Robert Lyn Small of Solano Beach, Calif.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Howard Roberts, Dale Reynolds, Doris Hathorne, and Phyllis Davis. Sybil was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Gus Small in May of 2007; by her daughter, Carolyn Jane Jones; and by nine siblings. Memorial contributions may be made in Sybil's name to Montezuma Valley Presbyterian Church.
