Stephen Gary "Steve" Dean

STEPHEN GARY “STEVE” DEAN Graveside inurnment services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 18 at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Farmington, N.M. Steve was born on March 15, 1929 in Clovis, N.M., the son of Irvin and Lita (McClain) Dean. He passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2006 at the Vista Grande Nursing Home at the age of 77. Steve joined the U.S. Navy and served his country for three years. A few years after being honorably discharged from the Navy, Steve married Ira Rachel Hatch on December 4, 1953 in Aztec, N.M. Steve spent his life working on and repairing local residents’ automobiles, a job that he truly loved. In his spare time he liked to build and race stock cars. Surviving Steve are his wife Ira Dean of Cortez; his children, Sherma Hargrove and husband, J.B., Linda Ketterer and husband, Kevin, all of Cortez, and Deanna Marion and husband, Randy of Aztec, N.M. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Kiffany Tate, Kandle Tate, Jennifer Hargrove, Sarah Marion, Jill Hargrove, Linda Marion, Dustin Marion, Kamron Tate, and Keaton Tate; and his brother, Lloyd Dean and wife, Lee of Ocala, Florida. Steve was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Doris DeCoster. Memorial contributions may be made in Steve’s name to Hospice of Montezuma.
