SHERRY GUYLENE WALLACE Memorial services for lifelong Dolores resident Sherry Guylene Wallace will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 25 at the Dolores Community Center. Sherry was born September 3, 1938 in Cortez to Guy H. Pickens Jr. and B. Pauline (Midge) High. Sherry was raised in Cortez by her mother and stepfather along with her brothers and sisters. She graduated from Dolores High School in 1956. Sherry was married to Wesley Wallace on January 16, 1957 and to this union four children, Steve, Kathleen, Tim and Jay, were born. Sherry stayed busy raising her children and keeping the house. She was very active in the cattle operation keeping things organized during calving, branding, moving cattle, haying, etc. She always took care of her family mostly keeping them fed whether it was putting on a meal at the house or along the trail. She was very active with her children holding the offices of President and Secretary in the Little League Association, acted as a 4-H Leader, was on the County Fair Board, Friends of the Library, School Booster Club and Meals on Wheels. Her children were very active in sports and it was rare for her to miss a game or wrestling match. Sherry was a lifetime member of the Cowbelles. She served on several committees including quilt ticket sales and Adopt A Highway. During her spare time, Sherry enjoyed sewing, quilting, embroidery, gardening, and canning, but specialized in cooking for her family. Sherry is survived by her children, Steve and Vicki Wallace, Kathleen and Joe Rayburn, Tim and Mitzi Wallace, and Jay and Amanda Wallace. She leaves nine grandchildren, Weston, Wyatt, Kitty, Mckenzie, Wesley, Guy, Hanna, Kasey, and Jessie; and two great grandsons, Jake and Tanner.
