Russel Arvaine Hindmarsh

RUSSEL ARVAINE HINDMARSH Russel Arvaine Hindmarsh was born on February 25, 1928 at Lakeview, Colo., the son of Douglas H. and Arlene (Coppinger) Hindmarsh. He passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at his home in Dolores at the age of 76. Russel married Ann Harbour on March 5, 1973 in Las Vegas, Nev. He was a devoted rancher and sheepherder who belonged to many livestock organizations. This included the Southwest Livestock Association, Colorado Wool Growers, National Wool Growers, and was elected the Cattleman of The Year. He also sat on the BLM Advisory Board and the Forest Service Advisory Board. Some of Russel’s favorite pastimes included fly-fishing, and four wheeling. Surviving Russel are his wife Ann Hindmarsh of Dolores; his children, LeAnn Higgins and husband, Danny, Keith and wife, Brenda all of Dolores, Manda Guillette and husband, Mike of Mancos, and Brandon Sloan and wife, Reggy of Dolores. He leaves nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; as well as his brother, Stanley Hindmarsh and wife, Mary of Dolores; and his aunt, Norma Hindmarsh of Dolores. Preceding him in death were his parents; his two children, Kent, and infant daughter, LuAnn; and his uncle, Russell E. Hindmarsh. Memorial contributions can be made in Russel’s memory to Hospice of Montezuma, 1345 S. Broadway, Cortez, Colo. 81321. Private family services will be held at a later date.
