ROSELLA BLANCH ROBERTS Memorial services for lifelong Cortez resident Rosella Blanch Roberts will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 16 at the Lewis Arriola Community Center. Mr. Shelby Smith will officiate. Rosella was born November 20, 1923 in Loma, Colo. the daughter of Roy and Irene (Hervey) Claycomb. She passed away on Friday, September 9, 2011 at Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 87. Rosella was a member of the Southwest Cattlewomen’s Association and the Highway Church of Christ. She was a bus driver for 18 years in Kansas and 17 years in Cortez. In her spare time Rosella loved spending time in the outdoors. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, riding horses and going to rodeos. Surviving Rosella are her children, Charles Mitchell and wife, Rita of Snellville, Ga., Roy Mitchell of Lewis, Billie Jo Phillips of Cortez, Cecil Roberts, Jr. and wife, Marilyn, Marjorie Stierly and husband, Frank, James Roberts and wife, Carolyn, Elizabeth Biggs and husband, Ernest, Clayton Roberts, and David Roberts, all of Kansas City, Kansas; her grandchildren, Pamela Mitchell of Nickelson, Ga., Rhonda Mathis of Arnoldsville, Ga., Sandra Evans of Loganville, Ga., Roland L. Mitchell of Rifle, Colo., Nanette Mitchell of Battle Mountain, Nev., Rena Mitchell of London, England, Ben Mitchell of Sheridan, Wyo., Shane Mitchell of Eagle, Colo., Chris Long of Rifle, Colo., Dena Ray Allen of Twin Falls, Ida., Jason Fox, Chris Fox, Joanna Phillips, all of Cortez, Dana Kay Wise, Jeffrey Roberts, Don Stierly, Ron Stierly, Lisa Martin, Ivan Roberts, Linda Bell, Rochelle Ray, Jennifer Biggs, Eric Biggs, William Biggs, Clinton Roberts, Jason Roberts, Julie Engelbrect, and Ashley Roberts; her siblings, Mary Lou Veach of Cortez, and Robert Claycomb of Lewis; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Rosella was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Luther T. Mitchell, Weldon Lee Ogg, and Cecil E. Roberts; her son Robert Milton Ogg; and her brothers, Bill Claycomb and Charles Claycomb. Memorial contributions may be made in Rosella’s name to the American Cancer Society. Rosella’s family would also like to extend their gratitude to the doctors and staff at Southwest Memorial Hospital.
